Excited to have sourced three copal varieties from Mexico. These are the most used and known. Sourced these from micro farms, families really, that have been harvesting them for atleast 2 generations.
Copal Negro - Black Copal with a soft, smoky aroma this resin is best for clearing outdoor spaces and when there is a lot of ventilation. I use this Copal during new and void moons if I feel stagnation during those periods. Otherwise this is a good resin to use for lucid dreaming practices.
Copal Oro - Golden Copal a mature copal that is found at the center of the trees. The color comes from stress of heat and age, as may of these trees are at the end of their lives when harvested. It’s aroma is strong, earthy, and almost lemony. My favorite copal to use for celebrations as I feel it calls to the ancestral realm.
Copal Blanco - White Copal is the most known and used copal. This is the resin used during Dia de Muertos. It is young, harvested from the branches and outer tree bark. It carries a camphoric note and is uplifting in it’s energy. Although young, this copal is ‘aged’ by drying in the sun, which leaves a harden resin that is very aromatic. This is my ‘everyday’ resin. I use it to smudge my space after sessions and when every I feel dense energy in my home and work space.
